What Causes Frequent Crying In A Toddler?

For the last 2 days my 1 year old daughter is crying a lot. though she is not crying continuously, but whenever we are trying to make her sleep or not giving something she is asking for immediately (like toys or similar things). We are just confused that if she is suffering from any kind of colic pain or ear pain or just being stubborn and not interested to sleep because of some kind of separation anxiety ( as I took a 1 year break and joined work last week, my parents and a XXXXXXX is taking care of her in the day time now)
We are working in XXXXXXX and the doctors here are not able to provide any specific reason for the same.
Can you please advice on the below
1) is there any way to understand if my 1 year kid is suffering from ear or colic pain or might be toothache ?
2) Is it safe to apply calpol or crocin drops when she is crying before sleeping
3) sometime we also give her Neopeptin/Colicaid if we feel she is having some kind of colic pain ( though there is no sureshot way to understand what exactly happened to her).. Is these medicines safe or have any kind of side effects?
4) can you suggest any medicine for ear pain?
needs ear examination before ear drops
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing again.
1. Ear pain - usually associated with cold or fever. Confirmation requires a ear examination by your doctor. Colic pain is less common at one year of age. Toothache is more common as teeth eruption is an ongoing process at this age. Look at her teeth and see if any new tooth is erupting.
2. Crocin or calpol drops are safe if given occasionally for crying.
3. Colicaid again is safe if given once in a few days. No significant side effects. But colicpain is less likely, I would advice you to avoid colicaid and try crocin drops.
4. Ear pain can be due to infection or wax which needs confirmation by examining your child. Avoid any ear drops without examination.
For wax I usually prescribe soliwax ear drops.
Wishing your child good health.
