What Causes Frequent Falling In A Person With Migraine And Numb Hands?
Question: I have fallen several times of late. It is like my ankle gives out and I fall on my knees and right arm to brace fall. I have attributed it to being clumsy but today while waiting for a shuttle to airport I was standing and fell backwards. I'm 48 a little concerned I might fall and break an arm or wrist. I have migraines and my hands go numb. I have a sense of urgency and know every restroom where I go or do not drink if I know I can't go within the hour. I see a neurologist on the 18 th because my preventative isn't working when a second was added Topomax I could not make my body respond to brain signals like stop hit brakes there is a semi in your XXXXXXX Within three days I had almost 5 serious collisions and brain fog. My vision is blurred but I attribute that to age. I'm tired but live in one state and commute to another and work allot. Anything I shoukd tell doctor when I see him on 18th ? Could I have had a stroke ? Lots of stress half my family died in last two years. Might get 2-4 hours sleep but I'm tired. Any direction other than Vacation ?
Brief Answer:
Possible drug related side effects.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
I understand your concern.
Your symptoms could possibly relate to migraine as well as side effects of drugs particularly with Topomax, Pherergen and Klonipin.
Maxalt is not associated with such effects.
I advise you to speak to your physician in tapering the dosages of these drugs.
These drugs act on brain and are known to cause dizziness, and neuro cognitive dysfunction .
They can occasionally cause visual blurring as well.
Stroke is currently unlikely in your case in the present context, but never the less it needs to be ruled out.
Hence I also recommend a CT brain, non contrast.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
