What Causes Frequent Hiccups While Having Flu Along With Fever, Body Aches And Chills?

A whopping cough needs to be excluded
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but your symptoms could be due to severe bronchitis or could be due to whooping cough. Whooping cough is contagious and needs to be excluded first with a throat culture and if found positive then you should refer to your doctor for a prescription of antibiotic to kill the bacteria causing whooping cough. If you were found negative for whooping cough then you should take an antihistaminic as citrizine once daily before going to bed and refer to your doctor for a prescription of corticosteroids to treat bronchitis.
I hope I answered your question. if you don't have any other clarifications then please close the discussion.

Common complication
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
I am sorry to hear that you had to spent four days in the hospital.. but pneumonia is a common complication of whooping cough occurring in 1 of 4 patients. Also, other bacterial pneumonia is difficult to differentiate from a whooping cough on a clinical basis and throats culture is required to differentiate between both conditions. However, treatment of both conditions is similar to antibiotics, antipyretics and antihistamines.
I hope you find this helpful.
