What Causes Frequent Menstrual Bleeding During Perimenopause?

Question: Hi. I'm 53 years old. On lo-lo es birth control. Bees getting a period every two weeks. Dark brown to red. Lasts at least 7 days. Not sure if I am pre menopausal of what but doesn't seem normal given I am on the pill. Any advice?
