The most common reason for urinary tract infection is E coli bacteria which migrates from rectum/anal canal to the urethra. Dehydration, Prostrate enlargement can all.be contributory to trigger such infection.So make sure that you remain adequately hydrated. While following up with your primary provider, he/she will do a digital rectal examination to assess for possible prostrate enlargement. Given your age, it is important to rule out prostrate hypertrophy.
