What Causes Fullness In The Chest, Heartburn, Burping And Upper Back Pain?

Question: For the past 2 weeks I have been experiencing fullness in my chest, burning, heartburn sypmptoms, burbing and pain in my upper back. I have seen my family dr. twice and was first prescribed Prevacid 15 mg and now she has me (since yesterday) on Prevacid 30 in the am. I started to experience some relief yesterday, but after dinner (which I made very bland) and a small dish of ice cream, I had extreme discomfort at bedtime. Took 15mg of Prevacid then hoping to get some relief and then took 30 mg this am before breakfast. I am feeling uncomfortable treating the symtoms and not knowing the cause. I am a healthy, fit, 62 year old female and have never experienced heartburn symptoms before.

You seem to be having Indigestion
There are many causes of indigestion like liver problems, pancreas problems, gut problems or thyroid problems.

You need to get evaluated further to know the cause of problem.

In that regard I recommended you the following tests .

Liver function test, Serum lipase, Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and Serum TSH.
