What Causes Gastrointestinal Upset And Nausea?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Nov 2015
Question: I am a 31 year old male. For the better part of the last 6 months or so, on and off (more on than off) I’ve been dealing with what I now feel might be a serious problem. Just about every morning I wake up for work at 6AM, I have a rather upset stomach, sometimes where I feel borderline nauseous. It goes away after about two hours or so. It has never been extreme and I have never vomited, but it is definitely unpleasant, and some days worse than others. The key factor here is that this ONLY happens on days where I wake up early for work. It almost never happens on the weekends or days I get to sleep in. I was off all week a few weeks ago and every day I woke up around 8 or 9am after a full night of sleep feeling fine. I have tried thinking of anything this can be but my diet is the same as it has always been and I am not on any medication. My bedtime has always been around the 10:30pm time. I just can’t understand this and hope it is not anything serious. The only other thing I can note is that last year I dealt with one other problem where I would see a small amount of bright red blood on the toilet paper. This has since gone away after relaxing my bowel movements. This very website said it was more than likely just a hemmoroid. My bowel movements are normal.

Brief Answer:
this may be due to acid peptic disease. Avoid fatty and spicy meals

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for putting your query in hcm.

Feeling of gastric upset and nausea may be due to acid peptic disease. And this condition become worse when there is stress as stress leads to increase in acid production. Thats why when you wake up late on weekend days may be there is no stress and you feel better. About treatment part take a proton pump inhibitor like rabeprazole along with a prokinetic agent like domperidone. Avoid fatty and spicy meals especially in dinner. Don't lie soon after meals at least for 2 hours. If still not relieved may visit a gastroenterologist who may advise for endoscopy examination to confirm what is happening inside. Nice to hear that bleeding per rectum has resolved. It may be due to hemorrhoids and further prevented by making stool soft by taking lots of fibres and fluids in your diet and by adding psyllium fibres.

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you.
Wish you a good health.
