What Causes Green Mucus Coming From Chest?
Question: Hi there 2 weeks ago I had a really bad cold which went on my chest I still have green mucos coming off my chest as the day goes on and still mucos in my nose.
I went to the doctors and he did a peak flow reading I blew 400 and he put me on a inhaler saying my peak flow was low and also antibiotics for a chest infection even though my chest was clear now one doctor said ashma and the other said he doesn't think so.
I suffer with anxiety and I'm very worried as I'm short of breath and I feel emotional and my best hurts and top of my back

Brief Answer:
Not right time to diagnose Asthma
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
With recent infection and mucus in lungs the Pulmonary function test for sure will show wrong results. There would be chance of diagnosing you asthmatic wrongly.
You have to get such tests only when you are clear of the infection and the mucus.
I am not convinced that you are asthmatic.
You may have to take Mucolytics like Ambroxol or Bromhexine for few days. Once these clear the mucus from lungs completely only then get the test done to rule out asthma.
If you are running fever and have cough, there is need for antibiotics for sure.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
No, sputum may have not cleared
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back.
Though you can not cough the mucus out , there could be some amount of mucus plugs in the airways. It does take few days to get it cleared. Do take Mucolytic medications.
I could not suspect anything but the above.
Wish you good health.
