default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jul 2015
Question: I have Bronchiectasis and it is managed well. Today, I have sputum color change (yellow/green) yet feel ok and had no other symptoms of infection such as high temperature, lower than normal for me O2 levels etc. Should I be concerned or just wait and see if anything else develops?

Brief Answer:
For now, observe only!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this sputum color change and all the disturbing thoughts this has caused you. I have revised your information fully and no piece of it is suggestive of a possible infection. Should this be an infection, then the signs and symptoms are still to come. Based on this, my advice is that you stay calm and monitor only. If any sign of infection like offensive sputum, fever, low oxygen saturation, etc. set in, then you should seek further medical evaluation. If nothing else comes up, you are fine.

Please, drink much water to loosen up sputum and ease coughing it out.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
