What Causes Greenish Vaginal Discharge While Treating Lichens Disease?
Question: My daughter is undergoing treatment for LSA (Lichen Sclerosus) treatment between her vagina and anus area (just below vagina). We apply Imogrof ointment twice a day. From last week we are observing yellow/green discharge from her vagina on her panty.
Please advice what could be the reason for this discharge and what precaution/medicine we need to observer to get rid of this problem

Brief Answer:
Looks like trichomoniasis due to fomites
Detailed Answer:
Hi....by what you say, this looks like an infection in the area. It could be Trichomoniasis infection most probably due to fomites.
I suggest you give the vaginal discharge for testing and to do Grams staining, microscopy and culture and sensitivity.
Meanwhile you can give a course of Metronidazole orally for a period of 7 days.
This is a prescription drug and I suggest you approach your pediatrician for it.

Hi Doctor,
My daughter is just 4 year and discharge is observed normally in morning. I am concerned how can she get STD?
Can it spread due to usage of school washroom or maid cleaning baby after potty?

Brief Answer:
I never meant it as STD...that's why I mentioned it could be due to fomites
Detailed Answer:
Hi....I understand your concern. I too never meant it as STD. That is the exact reason why I mentioned it as fomites related problem. Fomites are very well known to cause trichomoniasis (if this is trichomoniasis at all). Fomites can be clothes or wipes or anything which come into contact with the particular surface or area. This is the reason why I wanted to test the vaginal discharge for a confirmed diagnosis.
Even if this is trichomoniasis, it cannot be a STD in this particular case.
