default
Posted on Mon, 15 Sep 2014
Question: If I insert a finger into my vagina I can feel a hard lump smaller that a pea that is underneath the skin on the back vaginal wall. What could this be? No pain and seems movable. No abnormal bleeding.

Brief Answer:
RETENTION CYST.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

According to information, it could be Bartholin or Gartner's cyst due to blocking of their ducts. As it is quite small, then it may resolve itself over the time.

I suggest you to consult with gynecologist for pelvic examination to confirm the diagnosis. Antibiotic and painkiller may be required in case of infection. Maintain genital hygiene properly.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

All the best and good luck.

Regards,
Dr S Patra
