What Causes Hard Solid Lump Inside Arm?
I recently found a mass on the inside of my arm, above the elbow. It was tender. I saw a doc and they ordered MRI. MRI found the mass but was inconclusive what is was, cystic or solid and recommended ultrasound. That radiologist said it was solid, probably a lymph node but needed biopsied. I had a FNA and core biopsy done and path report reads fine needle aspiration: blood and mixed population of lymphocytes. The lymphocytes are predominantly small and mature-appearing with scattered larger forms. Flow cytometry within normal limits. The core biopsy showed rare, small well-formed non-caseating granulomas. Special stains for acid fast bacilli and fungi are negative.
So what does that mean? All I read about this type of granuloma talks about sarcoidosis. Can these be found in anything else? I am having parasthesias in this arm from the elbow area down and think this is possibly pressing against a nerve.
Any info is appreciated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have studied your case.
Small well-formed non-caseating granulomas usually suggest sarcoidosis .
In atypical tuberculosis rarely there can be such kind of granuloma, but sarcoidosis is most common diagnosis.
As these lymph node are near nerve they can give pain symptoms due to local compression.
You may need clinical examination also to confirm diagnosis.
Till time you can start medication and antibiotic consulting your treating doctor.
Many of my patients get relief from chronic symptoms by yoga pranayama and XXXXXXX XXXXXXX so you can also due that.
