Question: I have been experiencing a hardening and slight bulging of the muscles in the upper back part of my leg just under the gluteus. Not really painful but noticible depending on how I sit. Other leg is not effected and you can feel a definite difference in the size and hardness of the muscles. like a hard flexed muscle

Brief Answer:
I recommend an ultrasonography of the region

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I have gone through your question and understand your concern.

A lesion in that area is quite unusual, but not impossible. Some lesions, reported in the literature, are seen in patients with progressive sciatica, while you do not report such problems. If this "bulging" gets bigger or involves the sciatic nerves which passes just underneath the reported lesion, you should talk to your primary care physician about a ultrasonography, which would better define its characteristics, or even better an MRI would better evaluate the soft tissues.

Hoping that this answers your question, please feel free for further questions.

Wishing you good health.

Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
