What Causes Headache And Sensitivity In The Neck?

Question: my daughter is experiencing headache across front of head, light sensitivity, neck and should pain, feels hot has not check temperature and fatigued. She has taken over the counter pain reliever but the pain has not stopped she stated she is not feeling any relief. The headache started yesterday. She is 27 years of age. I told her to go see the physicians. She has some allergies. But my concern is with the neck and should pain. I have had migrains but I am just concerned.

Hi,

Thanks for the question.

This is perfect age for a migraine type of headache. The episodic attacks come in groups and relieved with antimigraine medicines. Migraines do not relieve with simple over the counter medication. However she can try NAPROSYN 500mg. We recommend using Sumatriptan up to 50mg and Naprosyn for acute attacks of migraine.
This is a time for her to get evaluated for migraine and other possible causes. A CT scan, blood counts and ESR are needed to rule out most possible causes.

Migraines have genetic tendency as well with more than 40% chance with one parent affected by migraine.
