What Causes Headache And Weakness After Taking Olmesarta?
1. Is this is because of stopping concor (side effect of stopping) even i am taking other beta blocker petril beta -20 (clonazepam and propranolol hydrochloride) 1/2 two times.
2. Please advice if I continue with Concor, is it safe for using long term, since I already used the same for last 9 years.
3. as per your view which medicine is best and safe (less side effects) in both of them
Both are good medicines
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Yes, once we change from betablockers to other BP medicines the pulse rate can raise marginally and generally temporary phenomenon. It should settle back in few days time.
Any particular reason that concoer was changed to Olmesartan?
If it is due to some side effects or cholesterol or sugar problem than it is better to continue Olmasartan. If it was changed without any particular reason than you can start back on concor.
If you shift to concor back there is no need for you to take Propranolol, you can take plain clonzapam. Except for some effect on blood sugar level and cholesterol there no specific side effects of longterm use of concor and its been in market for longtime and is found to be safe and you can continue.
Both of them are almost on same safety level but as per latest recommendation we would not tend to use beta blocker as first line of treatment but if you are already on it there is no recommendation for changing it.
Regards,
The reason for change of concor is my BP was 140/90 wiht concor 2.5 and when i changed to concor 5 mg my c/f was going below 60 some time.
Right now I am taking Concor 2.5 mg and Olmasartan 20 (since last 11-12 days) both once daily and only problem is I am feeling weakness and headache since last 3 days. and weakness is like i need some extra power to walk also is this is common in Olmasartan and when it will go.
My LDL cholesterol is 143 and Bolod sugar is 109.
Please advice
Thanks
No olmesartan can not be reason for your weakness
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
Olmesartan by itself is not gone to cause problems you have described. But tachycardia high pulse rate can explain. But if your pulse was going below 60 and now you find it so high it needs an explanation. You can try going back to concor and see if everything improves, without causing much bradycardia.
