Brief Answer:
causes explained.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I understand that you are having a headache while changing posture, mostly on standing up.

The causes of headache in pregnancy are mostly similar to those in non pregnant women. So pregnancy as such does not cause headaches. Common cause of headache is tension. Relaxing effect of progesterone may also cause a pulsatile headache during pregnancy. Lack of sleep, improper food intake or too much caffeine or drug abuse are other reasons.

Postural headache may be due to problems in spine like spodylitis, may be migraine, due to dehydration, a syndrome called vertebro basilar insufficiency where the blood flow to the brain decreases on standing up. Also problems in vision and eyes may also cause headaches.

If the headache is transient, I suggest that you try simple remedies like take a good meal with plenty of water and a good sleep and see if it gets relieved. If it does then it may be due to one of the common reasons like lack of sleep or improper diet or dehydration. If it persists then you may need to see a doctor, get evaluated and then proper treatment can be given.

Hope this satisfies your query.

Brief Answer:
may be a cause.

Detailed Answer:
Yes, it may be one of the cause. If there has been too much water intake, may lead to water intoxication and disturbances in the bodys electolyte composition.

It is a good idea to take a simple meal that is easily digestible like a really thick soup with some sugar added to it. This helps in restoring the electrolytes. Fruits also help. So try having a meal and rest and meanwhile the excess water will flush out via urine if you lie down. If the symptoms decrease then there are no worries.

Hope this helps.

take care,

Dr Madhuri
