Posted on Fri, 25 Jul 2014
Question: Two weeks ago I got a hair folicle infection in my eyebrow for which I was prescribed pain killer and antibiotics. The boil has subsided however I have now been suffering from random headaches in past two weeks. They usualy occur after 4 pm the pain comes and goes and is usually originating from back of my head to front. There has been a lot of work happening at office. I have developed a constipation problem and low back pain. I apply aurvedic oil to my head and get a good sleep. However the problem persists the next day evening.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms suggest muscle tension headache.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr XXXXXXX

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms. These are most likely suggestive of muscle tension headaches. Flunarizine is a good drug for treating migraine, however, your symptoms do not suggest migraine.

For muscle tension headache, you may start dothiepin tablets.

You should get better in 2-3 weeks. Only if you do not improve, you may go for a brain scan.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

Brief Answer:
The details are below.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

Dothiepin is usually sold in the name of Prothiaden tablets, made by Abott company.

If you were my patient, I would usually start a dose of 25 mg at night, and review back after one month.

Best wishes,
