What Causes Headache, Sore Throat, Fatigue And Swollen Lymph Glands In Neck?

Question: I was in Florida last week during a Red Tide outbreak; caught a bacterial infection from it: headache, sore throat, swollen lymph glands in my neck, fatigue---I didn't know about Red Tide since we are from Michigan. There were alerts but nothing about staying out of and away from the beach. Heavy surf; airborn bacteria, neurotoxins released into the air we were breathing. Regular drs unavailable.
OTC remedies don't help to unblock sinus pressure and congestion--neither sprays nor pills

Brief Answer:
Hypertonic saline nasal washes and Xylometazoline drops

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Hypertonic saline nasal washes and 0.1 % Xylometazoline (Otrivin) nasal decongestant drops should be helpful in opening up the nose.

2. It is recommended that you get an examination and prescription for antibiotics, anti allergic mucolytic and anti inflammatory medication ( including steroids, if necessary) as this may be an Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI).

3. Since you have preexisting chronic sinusitis and multiple FESS surgeries, upload any recent scan images for a better assessment.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
