What Causes Heavy Bleeding And Hot Flashes After Taking I-pill?

Question: I'm 33 years old. My normal period was on January 14 2015 and I did take a morning after pill so I didn't think nothing about me starting to spot on the 7 of February and then I started bleeding more heaver on the 9th and it lasted to the 11th so a total of 2 in a half days of blood flow. also last week one night I was having hot and warm flashes it felt like I was getting a fever and then I was cold. Now on the 27th I started to spot and at the end of the night I had a panty liner full of black/brown blood and this morning when using the bathroom some fresher looking blood poured out more so like a teaspoon worth with blood tissue in it. Should I be concerned? Oh usually my period last for a good 5 days and I bleed very heavy.

If you have regular 28-30 day cycles, you should have had your natural period around the 14th of February. You did not say when you took the emergency pill.

Withdrawal bleeding usually occurs a few days after the pill intake. This can last from 2 or 3 days up to a week. This is due to the high hormone content in the pill. This was the bleeding you saw from the 7th of February.

The next natural period is also delayed by a week or two after pill intake. This is what seems to have occurred here.

If you consumed the pill within the stipulated time interval, you are amply protected from conception. Moreover, if you had the intercourse during the safe period, the protection is natural.

The symptom of hot flushes could be related or unrelated to the hormone fluctuations.

Please observe the menstrual pattern and should it look abnormal, which I do not think would happen, get help from your health care provider. You may then need some medication to arrest the bleeding and regularize your cycles.

Please restrict the use of emergency medication to one or two pills per year as the after effects in the form of hormone imbalances are unwelcome.

I took the morning after pill on the 23 January . I started spotting on the 7 of Feb but a real blood flow didn't come to the 9 through 11th of Feb now I started bleeding brown blood yesterday night which was on Feb. 27 and this morning I had some blood come down now it looks like its stopping. I'm confuse because I shouldn't get a period until March 14

This is the delayed natural period which should have occurred on the 14th of February. What you had earlier was the withdrawal bleeding due to the pill. If you have any doubts, you may get a trans-vaginal sonogram to exclude pregnancy and also to know the state of the pelvic organs. A complete hormone profile also would help to know the hormone state at present.
