What Causes Heavy Prolonged Menstruation With Thickened Endometrial Lining?

Question: Hi my sister is 48 .her period hasn't stopped since a month.her endometrial lining has been thickened.esr is 100.other routine tests are normal
Pls advice the best treatment to stop the periods .

Dilatation and Curettage ( D & C) should be done

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Heavy prolonged menstruation with thickened endometrial lining can be due to :
1. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding
2. Endometrial hyperplasia
3. Endometrial carcinoma.
The diagnosis can be confirmed by the histopathological examination of the endometrium.
Therefore, I advise her to undergo therapeutic D & C , it will stop her bleeding and tissue will be obtained for examination. Further management can be done based on the diagnosis.
