Question: Monday afternoon I had a hip operation to reattach my abductor muscles to my hip. A year ago I had a hip replacement and somehow they became partially unattached. I had a spinal and have taken eight oxycodone/Acet 5/325mg. I have taken no pain meds since Tuesday night. Yesterday the hiccups began, and I' becoming a bit fed up with them. There is no sign of them stopping.

Brief Answer:
Its withdrawal symptom.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

It seems to be the side effects of oxycodone. Because oxycodone may become habit-forming causing mental or physical dependence or physical dependence. So do not stop using oxycodone suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms instead doses should be tapered gradually to prevent signs and symptoms of withdrawal in the physically dependent patient. .

So I advise you to have consultancy with your operating doctor so that he may do your physical examination and advise you further medication as required.

Till then drink a lot of water and take ibuprofen when pain occurs. Do no take alcohol in between as it may enhance the effects of withdrawal.

I hope it helps.

Thanks.

Dr.Singh.
