Question: Hi, I am 38 yrs old, F, healthy, was given a b12 shot when my level was 450, I don't know why because that's not that low and when I had taken vitamin in past had nervousness and trouble sleeping which resolved itself when stopped taking it. After shot by bp shot up from 130/80 to 170 /97 then a day later heart racing to 160 resting heart rate, sweating, then insomnia. It has now been a month and a half and my bp lowered 138/85 and heart rate between 130 and 90's, in past was much lower. I feel like someone gave me a shot of adrenaline all day all nite cannot sleep. Heart dr confirmed high heart rate but says heart is healthy, was tested at hospital, including thyroid test from dr. Nothing has come up. Can this still get better on its own? I usually was a great sleeper and cannot rest or excerpt myself at all, it is horrible. Please any suggestions to fixing this problem.thank you XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
your symptoms may be due to anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
I am Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD.
I have gone through your query. Thanks for using HCM.

Any symptoms which are due to side effect of medicine usually subside shortly after stopping it. I agree that you might have some intolerance to B12. But I would not hold it responsible for your persistent symptoms. Your previous memory of B12 intolerance could have made you anxious during course of injectable B12. Did you discuss with your treating doctor?

As your heart evaluation and thyroid functions are normal you should not worry. Focus on any stress if at all it is !

I suggest you to take mouth dissolving tab of clonazepam during spell of symptoms and I think you will feel better. I would be glad to guide you further if needed.

My best wishes
Dr.Teli.
