Brief Answer:
What is the bp range

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome.
This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist.
First i would like to know What is your bp range.
Coming to drugs, i don't want any of my patients to take Clonidine until other drugs fail. Clonidine is a drug which controls the bp effectively but it has side effects of reflex hypertension, i.e. if you skip it than bp shoots more than what it earlier was.
I prefer giving Calcium Channel blocker(Amlodipine/Cilnidipine) to my patients.

Coming to other drugs, if bp is high, you can increase dose of Lisinopril to 20mg twice daily which can control bp better.
Continue taking Atenolol & if bp is still not controlled we generally add a diuretic (Thiazide) to Lisinopril.

Thanks & take care

Thank you. My BP range fluctuates from 145/95 to 185/118 to 165/95. It's 137/91 now. My doctor wanted me to take clonidine only when my BP is 160/94 to bring it own. XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back again.
I would again recommend against using Clonidine & would advice you to use Calcium Channel Blocker as discussed earlier.
For a patient like you, i would prescribe Tab Lisinopril 20mg twice daily & Tab Atenolol 50mg in morning. And if the bp goes high any time you can add 5mg of Tab Amlodipine (calcium channel blocker).
Other option would be giving a combination of Lisinopril + hydrochlorothiazide -20+12.5mg (diuretic) in morning & Tab Atenolol 50mg in evening. This will keep your bp well in control.

You can discuss these with your primary physician & let me know if you need any further help.
Thanks & take care
