What Causes High Fever, Cough, Running Nose, Loss Of Appetite And Sweating?
I'm a 28 years old male with cold-like symptoms, more like viral infection. It started 4 days ago. The symptoms are:
-severe fever
-cough
-runny nose, sneezing
-lack of food appetite
-sweating
-herpes reactivation ( on my upper lip )
The most uncomfortable symptom is the fever. I have fever for 4 days in a row, without stopping. The fever can go as high as 39.6 Celsius degrees. The average fever temperature is around 38.4 degrees.
I'm on treatment using Zannit antibiotic. 1 pill every 12 hours. I'm on my 3rd pill at the moment.
My concern is regarding the fever. Will too much fever cause body damage? Should I try to stop the fever by any means or should I let the body fight the infection ?
Is Zannit the right medicine for my symptoms?
Thank you doctor,

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to health care magic, I share your concern and I will try to help you out in best possible way.
Even though fever is a mechanism to fight infection, it should not be left uncontrolled, as it might lead to hyperthermia and resultant convulsions. Since you are prescribed only antibiotics, I recommend you to take it along with crocin 650 mg twice daily for 3 days.
The antibiotic you have been prescribed is a third generation cephalosporin, which is effective in controlling secondary bacterial infection of respiratory tract. Since viral fevers subside in 4-5 days, there are good chances of respiratory tract being secondarily infected by bacteria, hence the persistence of fever and other symptoms.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
