What Causes High Heart Rate While On Coversyl?
Question: I am taking coversyl for high blood pressure. When I exercise vigorously either in the gym or with hard labour I really feel my heart. Not the normal speeding up of the heart rate but where it feels like arrhythmia or excessive high heart rate. I have trouble explaining the exact sensation but I never had this issue when I was not on blood pressure medication. I have tried quitting the medication and it does stop this from happening but then my blood pressure goes up without the medication. Is vigourous exercise or hard work while using this medication dangerous?
Brief Answer:
Yes this kind of sensation could occur with blood pressure medications sometimes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Yes this kind of sensation could occur with blood pressure medications sometimes. There is no need to worry about it. There is no separate risk associated exercising on coversyl other than increase in bp which certainly you keep track of. So you can safely continue exercising.
I would advise to get treadmill test done, which will measure your blood pressure response, pulse rate and any ecg abnormalities during the exercise, and can diagnose if any minor underlying abnormalities if present and assure you regarding safety.
Hope this helps you.
