What Causes High Potassium Levels In Blood?
Question: I am male 70 years of age. I have been Cila Car 10 mg in morning and 5 mg in evening for my BP, which is normal with the medicine.
I have had occasional peaking of Potassium in my regular KFT tests. In last 6 bi monthly tests, one time potassium came high at 5.4, all other parameters have been normal.
I am also taking, Thyronorm 75/100 alternately with Rocaltrol 0.25 mg plus 500 mg, morning and evening for my Thyroid and PTH. TSH is regulated and normal while PTH keeps varying.
I've now been advised to take Talismartin instead of Cila Car in view of above medication. I want to know whether Talismartin is better than Cila car, I have no issue with Cila car which I've been taking for more than 2 year on advice of Nephrologist. Please advice.

Brief Answer:
Telmisaetan decreases the level of potassium in blood
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for choosing HCM .
Cilicar is a calcium channel blocker which is a very safe anti hypertensive drug btbit has no effect on potassium levels of body.As your potassium levels are on the higher side usually your nephrologist has prescribed you Telmisartan which decreases the level of potassium in the blood. It can be the only reason why your nephrologist switches you from cilicar to temisartan.
So its a good desicion and you can abide with it.
Thanks
