What Causes High Serum Protein Level?
Unlikely.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Welcome to HCM forum.
Increased serum protein is a commonly encountered situation, and only rarely is caused by cancer.
It can be from other causes like dehydration, any infections, connective tissue disorders etc.
Anyhow, malignancies (like multiple myeloma;not cervical cancer) also can cause this. But, usually this will be associated with other systemic features like anorexia, recent weight loss, fever etc. In these conditions, globulin component of serum protein is increased.
If the repeat test is normal, need not worry about this. Otherwise, your doctor will guide you in further evaluation.
Hope this will answer your query.
If you have further questions, I will be happy to help.
Wishing you good health.
Thank you.
I do have another question........last spring I had some brownish vaginal discharge so my dr. did a tissue biopsy and it came back normal. He then ordered a pelvic ultrasound to measure the lining and if I remember correctly it came back 5 or 5.1 with normal being 4 to 5 I believe. I did go to a ob/gyn and he said it was just atrophy(I am post menopausal and 62 years old). I still have brownish discharge (not blood) sometimes not much. My general practice dr. now want me to have another ultrasound.....what are your feelings on this? Do you think it is necessary??
Better to do.
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
If I was your treating doctor, I will suggest you to repeat an ultrasound, along with a pap smear in view of persisting discharge.
So, kindly stick on to your doctor's advise.
Wishing you good health.
Thank you.
Still need evaluation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
As you are having persistent discharge now, a pap smear and repeat USG is needed.
Endometrial thickness of 4.2 is nothing to be worried.
But,since the USG was done long back, that make no change in our present decision.
Kindly get a pap smear and USG done.
Be free to ask further questions if any.
Take care.
Thank you.
