What Causes Hypoglycemia In An Infant?
Question: My brother's child(girl) was born yesterday (Oct 12 2017). Since, my sister in law had borderline sugar on one of the occassions (during the entire pergnancy period), baby was tested for hypo glycemia for every one hour. The sugar levels were 45, 47, 65, 47 on each of the occassions. So, doctors decided to monitor the baby by providing IV, Fluids etc.Is it normal for babies to be hypo glycemic? Note: Baby was born at full-term (40 weeks and 1 day).

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. In case of elevated blood sugar in the mother during pregnancy, the babies are likely to develop hypoglycemia and therefore monitoring the blood sugar levels is a good idea. However, the baby has not developed hypoglycemia and the blood sugar is lower normal. So, there is no need to worry and establishing full feeds should take care of the issue.
