Question: My son in law had surgery yesterday and now cannot empty bladder fully. What do you recommend?

I am so sorry to hear about this difficulty your son in law has emptying his bladder. If he is in pains, then I will suggest you get the doctors to relief him. However, if he is not in pains,,, there is no need to get worried. The medications used for surgery and to control pain at times can cause urinary retention and this would not be strange. This would not be a permanent issue and more likely to be related to the mediations and would resolve as he recovers and stop taking these medications.
