What Causes Increase In Body Temperature?
Question: If my body temp is always at 96 degrees, but it jumps to 99.6 degrees after an operation. doesn't this sound like an infection?
Brief Answer:
NO, it is not necessarily an infection!
Detailed Answer:
HI and thanks for this query.
Fever often means an inflammation. After surgery, there is always an inflammatory reaction and justifies why there could be an increase in temperature. The increase temperature means there is an ongoing inflammatory reaction of which-surgery and infection can both explain this. For now, I choose to go with inflammatory reaction at this time.
Help this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
