What Causes Increased Heart Rate And Fever In A WPW Patient?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome back on HCM!
Regarding your concern, I would explain that a compensatory increase in heart rate proportional to the level of body temperature elevation is common during an acute infection (like cold) or even allergy.
If the hear rate is around 100 bpm an the pulse is regular it is likely that no arrhythmia is present, but if the pulse is irregular and the feeling of palpitations are present, then I recommend performing a resting ECG to the nearest ER service to rule in/out any possible paroxysmal supraventricular arrhythmia (like atrial fibrillation, or SVT) which are common during WPW.
Also, it would be wise to check several blood tests (complete blood count, PCR, urine complete analysis, liver and renal function tests, etc) and a chest X ray coupled with a physical exam to identify any possible inflammation/ infection focus leading so to an appropriate therapy.
A prompt managment of the acute infection, would minimize the high temerapture triggering effects on arrhythmia generation.
In case you peform a resting ECG, I would be glad to review it directly here on HCM for a second professional opinion.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
Feel free to ask me again whenever you need!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
