What Causes Increased Heart Rate?
Question: Hello.
I have a late follow-up question to this query
http://www.healthcaremagic.com/AskDoctorInboxServlet?page=viewQuery&queryId=99503
The last week or so my palpitations have subsided into a muffled version of themselves. I have had more episodes of racing heart, not lasting longer than 20 seconds, but often stopping and starting again quite soon. In addition I have felt more pains in heart area. These pains are not sharp or strong, they are quite mild and sometimes feel more like pressure or sqeezing. I have these pains every day upon waking up. They disappear with activity / exercise. I am also very easily out of breath and light headed. I am seriously worried. What can I do to rule out heart failure after all these tests?
Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Not necessary to run further tests for now...
Detailed Answer:
Hi Ina,
I have gone through your medical history and noticed that all your cardiac examinations resulted normal. So, there is nothing you should be worried about.
I suggest to
- try to control stress
- continue the medications you are already taking
- do regular annual check ups
I think it is not necessary to undergo other examinations which are related to high mortality and complications as compared to EGG, echo, holter and treadmill.
If anything unusual will be seen in such tests, further examinations might be needed. For the moment, there is no need to go further.
Hope it helped! Let me know if you have further queries!
