Question: My baby girl is 4 months old with 6.6kg in wt. , having blood test done for CRP = 12.7mg/L, WBC=15900mm3.
We have consulted two doctors :
First suggested : Accuzon 125mg twice daily for 7 days
Second suggested : Taxim-O antibiotic.

Not sure if its sepasis. And is it safe to given Taxim-O oraly or accuzon 125mg. Because the result shows my child has some infection.
But she seems well now and movement , sucking is all normal. Only one day she has fever of 101F and three time green poop thats why we took her to doct

Brief Answer:
Oral antibiotics should suffice

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

The CRP level as well as Leucocytes are raised, indicating sepsis. Therefore antibiotics need to be given. Accuzon (ceftriaxone) and Taxim-O (cefixime) both belong to the same group of antibiotics. Since sucking is normal, you can give her oral antibiotic Taxim-O instead of admitting the child for intravenous antibiotic administration.

It is normal for the child to pass stool several times a day and I would not really be concerned about that.

Try to keep the child exclusively on breast feeding.

From yesterday till today , my daughter has poop 4-5 time and every time its watery which seems to be diarrhea , so we went for check up to the doctor and he has given some medicine and asked as to continue the taxim-O.

I am worried whether the antibiotic is working or not. And he has asked to continue the taxim-O for five days , 1ml for two times.

Should be consult any other doctor or the procedure of treatment seems in a correct path .
I am bit confused.

Brief Answer:
It is normal for a child of this age.

Detailed Answer:
For a child of this age, it is absolutely normal to pass stool even 10 times a day or even after each feed. Antibiotics have no role (unless there is proven raised pus cell count in stool) and therefore Taxim-O is not likely to do any good. However, since the CRP was raised, just continue the antibiotics as directed.

The correct path is to exclusively breast feed the baby and not to panic.
