What Causes Infection Post Colorectal Surgery For Hernia Repair?

Question: Have you death with hernia repair from colorectal surgery infection causing many problems. I called to see the surgeon; he has left; looked him up and read awful litigation about him. Surgeon I'm seeing in April has done cleanup work for this doctor. I am shocked, but, look back at the times I called him asking him why I had problems and once he hung up. There is no doubt that I have been on a very bad path; yes, we all err, but, I'm probably one who has been at the end of the wrong knife and being treated only for Chronic Pain after two surgeries makes me think going this long w/o care quite scary. Have you experienced things going wrong with intestines/colon under mesh?

Brief Answer:
Fortunately I have been lucky

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in

I have dealt with incisional hernia repair from colorectal surgery infection but not with my own patients

It is true that as humans we make mistakes but you can choose not to

With 27 years of my practice I have been lucky not to have had any major morbidity with my operated patients

On completion of 25 years when I went to seek blessings from my teacher, a small chat that took place is worth sharing :

My teacher asked me about the morbidity and mortality on table, I told him none as far as mortality and small surgical complications nothing major in 25 years

He said there are two possibilites , either you are not working or you are telling a lie, I told him none of these options is valid as there is a third option patient and procedure selection, it is always better not to operate if you weigh the pros and cons of the outcome and you find the results would not help the patient

I am a blessed human being

Yes we have seen things going wrong with intestines/colon under the mesh

But most of the times they have been corrected on revision surgery
Regards

Thank you. And I am blessed that the surgeon who did the repair is no longer there and I am being seen. It has taken a lot of preserving but God is good. Timing was right as I made the decision to have this looked at; surgeon there now is doing "trauma" on patients from previous surgeon. It is not true that all doctors have their patients in their best interest; but, also true that most do the best they can.
I'm glad you are cautious and blessed. Thank you.
