What Causes Inflammation And A Rash On The Anal Area?
Question: I have a small hemorrhoid and have had inflammation in the anal area plus a rash like jock itch for 2 months. I have used preparation H, creams, different types of Gold Bond powders, jock itch spray, it won't go away. Have also used soaps and detergents that are not perfumed or scented and no difference. I shower daily and am worried because it won't go away. What should I do or try?

This apparently loos to be a sort of dermatitis changed over characters with teh use of many different applications.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
First of all stop all the local application.
Sitz bath in a tub with warm water and to clean the area with wet cotton lightly to wash off the dead tissues.
Then make the area dry with a hair dryer fro a safe distance and then apply locally Liquid Povidone Iodine to make the area sterile.
Multivitamins with Vitamin A and D as it acts as anti-oxidants and helps recovering to normal skin with some strength, integrity.
Oral antibiotics and Metronidazole if there is an evidence of an infection, needs confirmation and prescription of a local Doctor.
This helps in most of the patients with similar problems as you have discussed.
Take an opinion of a General Surgeon for local examination, per-rectal examination and proctoscopy to determine how much is the hemorrhoids and the modality of the treatment if required.
