What Causes Intermittent Pain In The Calf?
Some possible diagnoses. To confirm or rule out you need physical exam.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.
- First you need to make sure and check with your orthopedist that everything is ok with the replaced hip.
- Second, since it is in the calf, it may be something related with the veins or arteries like a deep vein thromboses. You need to check the diameter of the calves and if there is a difference of more then 1 cm, then you should immediately go to the ER to rule out deep vein thromboses. These are quite often in cases of long immobilization, and I guess you haven't moved that much during the hip replacement surgery.
- Thirdly, It may be a nerve problem. after ruling out the first two problems, the third will be ruled out as well.
So, my recommendation is to go to the local ER and see if you can find a doctor who can examine you. This is very important to be neglected, especially if it is deep vein thromboses. They may do some blood tests and an ultrasound of the veins.
Hope this is helpful.
