Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: I have been experiencing intermittent pain in my right lateral chest, starting under my breast and circling around my side to my back stopping near my shoulder blade. It feels like a big gas bubble. I take Gas X with little relief. Can't name any particular thing that causes it.

Brief Answer:
Get ultrasound abdomen and liver function tests

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist.

Pain in right lateral chest under breast can be due to:
1. Acid peptic disease
2. Gallbladder or liver disease
3. Muscular or skeltal pain

Since it is radiating to shoulder blade it may be due to gallbladder or acid peptic disease.

So I will suggest you get ultrasound abdomen and some blood tests like SGOT/SGPT, serum alkaline phosphatase and complete haemogram. These tests will help in reaching to diagnosis.

Meanwhile to relieve pain I will suggest you take a proton pump inhibitor like rabeprazole along with a prokinetic agent like domepridone. Also an antispasmodic agent like drotavarine

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you . Wish you a good health
