Though less chances but we have to get you screened for Diabetes too!!!

Welcome back and thanks for the consultation at my virtual clinic!
Less likely to be diabetes but still it is better to get you screened for Diabetes.
Diet containing protein rich products like meat, dairy, eggs and other proteins may lead to increased uric acid and that may cause pain first in the big toe usually but other toes may also be involved. And yes-it is common disease.
Kindly go for the labs and attach the reports. Meanwhile do the remedies as aforementioned.
DIAGNOSTIC TESTS NEEDED:-
Serum Uric acid levels.
CBC with ESR and Differentials.
Fasting lipid profile.
Fasting blood glucose levels.
Serum electrolytes.
Also give me history of pain as there is any event of physical injury to the foot??
Since when have you been feeling this pain??

To me it is more likely to be Gout !!!
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for the consultation at my virtual clinic!
It seems more likely to be related to gout. Diabetic neuropathy and pain in nerves as you mentioned is less likely. But as I suggested, you need to go for the screening in anyway.
