What Causes Intermittent Tingling Sensation On Left Side Of Face And Head?

default
Posted on Thu, 17 Mar 2016
Question: I am having intermittent tingling on the left side of my face and head, parasthesia like "pins and needles" In the past I've also had facial pain, numbness in my mouth/tongue, and jaw issue, only on the left side.

I've always associated it with medication. Buspar in particular, but also Brintellix, and Viibryd. Should I be worried about some kind of neuralgia or have it checked out?

Brief Answer:
Most likely drugs side effects.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

I don't think there is a condition such AS neuralgia or neuropathy that is related to your symptoms.

In my opinion, you are right about relation of your symptoms with the drugs that you use.

Buspar is a drug that is known to cause mouth/tongue symptoms, Brintellix and Viibryd also can cause side effects such tingling, or pins and needles in different parts of the body.

So, in my opinion, you shouldn't worry more than necessary and there is no need to rush about being checked for conditions such neuropathy.

You could discuss with your treating Doctor about adjusting or decreasing doses of drugs you use in order to minimize the side effects.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.

Greetings.
