Muscle fasciculations most likely
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, thanks for asking from HealthcareMagic.
I can understand your concern. As per your description, I can say that you had involuntary muscle flickers also known as muscle fasciculations. Muscle fasciculations can occur due to many causes
- Physiological causes (not serious)
: Lack of sleep
: Excessive exercise and less rest
: Mental stress
: Overdose of caffeine (excessive tea or coffee)
- Pathological causes (serious)
: Myopathy like congenital myopathy, drug induced
: Autoimmune disorder like
: vitamin deficiency like vitamin D, B12
: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
: Spinal muscular atrophy
After ruling out physiological causes and to know the cause, you should undergo neuromuscular examination and few investigations
- EMG and NCV studies
- Muscle enzyme, CPK-MM level
- If diagnostic confusion, then muscle biopsy
- a blood level of vitamin D and B12 level
I think you may be having some physiological cause. It can be stress or lack of sleep. Wait for some time and take rest. You should get relief. Also, avoid coffee or tea for the time being.
Hope it will help you. If still in doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
neurological examination
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, welcome back.
Yes, I recommend consultation with neurologist. He/she will examine your neurological system after taking relevant history. This is the next step. After it, differential diagnosis can be narrowed down.
Next step will be investigations if non-physiological cause. I have mentioned the necessary investigations in previous answer. After confirming diagnosis, correct treatment will be started.
Hope it will help you. If still having doubts, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
