What Causes Irregular Bowls, gas And Bloating After Gastroenteritis?

default
Posted on Wed, 28 May 2014
Question: I have had gastroenteritis for over a year and while I do not have pain, I have a great deal of discomfort, very irregular bowls, lots and lots of gas and bloating (especially at night). I feel nauseous most of the time, but this is better after I eat. Eating is a problem, however, because many things I like seem to acerbate my problems. I've tried not eating wheat, dairy, etc. That hasn't helped. Now, I've been diagnosed with gall bladder stones. My local surgeon wants to take out my gall bladder. Does that make sense? Might I be in worse shape after an operation of this sort and if so how? I am not heavy and I am active in biking, badminton and kayaking, so should I do this or wait a little longer? or get more tests. Have had colonoscopy, and ultra-sound ( where the stones showed up).

Brief Answer:
Removal of GB will help alleviate symptoms

Detailed Answer:
HI.
Thanks for your query and faith in us at HCM.

Almost all your symptoms are fitting into a symptoms complex related to gall bladder stone.
Gall stone can cause infection , impaction , surgical jaundice anytime to complicate the matter all of a sudden.

Removal of the gall bladder may help you to alleviate your problems.

Secondly in spite of your Medical history you have noted you are so much active, meaning fit for surgery. So such surgery should be done when you are fit.

So, please get the surgery done ASAP. With Laparoscopy, the surgery of GB is as good as a day-care-surgery.. you will in a better shape.

It looks colonoscopy was normal (as you have not mentioned anything about the report).
