What Causes Irregular Menstrual Bleeding After Taking Emergency Contraceptive Pills?
Question: this month I started my birth control pack like half a day late. I'm on the generic version of generess fe. I've been on this pill for 5 years. I usually have a normal "period" on my placebo weeks. well this time I only spotted for like a day or so and that's it. I've taken a pregnancy test every day for the last week, including the day in started spotting, and they all came back negative. is this normal?

It would really not matter if you have taken the oc pill half a day late, as long as you were continuous and regular on the pack. The decrease in bleeding during the placebo week is often normal to be experienced as it is a known effect of prolonged usage of oc pills. As the pregnancy test is still negative even after 7 days post active pill intake , you are not likely to be pregnant. However to confirm , you may get a serum beta hcg test done to get conclusive result.
The present spotting as its a single episode is to be considered normal.
