What Causes Irregular Menstruation After Taking I Pill?
Question: Hi Dr.
My fiance's menstrual cycle (MC) started on 30 july 2014 and on 2nd august 2014 we had unprotected sex, but on 3rd of august ie, within 24hr. she had i-pill. Everything was fine until 8th of August when she told me that her urine was a pinkish in color from past two days and she's feeling a bit backache (like in periods) and inflammation while and every time after passing urine for about 30-40 minutes.
We thought it could be a side-effect of i-pill. But on the 9th of August she called me and told me that she's bleeding from the vagina however the bleeding was not that severe in the morning but later in the evening she called me again and she told me that her amount of bleeding increased.
Our concern is :
1.- why is she bleeding now?
2.- is there anything like pregnancy we should be worried about?
3.- if so what should we do to avoid this because we are not in condition of conceiving.
And yes, she's 29 years of age and this is the third time she had i-pill but the first two time was around 1-2 years back.
Please revert as soon as possible.

Hi
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
1) It could be due to irregularity of menses due to the iPILL.
But to confirm do get a blood pregnancy test.
2) Pregnancy is unlikley but do get a pregnancy test or even better if you get a sonography pelvis.
3) First confirm. If its pregnancy then you can take MTP kit.

Thanks for replying.
But as I stated earlier also we had sex on the 4th or 5th day of her periods and as far as I know it is the time not suitable to get pregnant and she had i-pill next day also.
And its only 1 week or so how can we know if shes pregnant??

Hi,
1) Yes its too early to detect but do get a sonography pelvis or blood pregnancy test after 4 weeks as that is the best way to confirm
It is unlilkely that she is pregnant but still there is a possibility.
Right now there is nothing to be done but to wait till 4 weeks.
