Irregular periods following missed abortion
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing..
I understand your concern..
I would like to ask you few questions..
1.Were your periods regular prior to the missed abortion?
2.How frequently did you get your periods after that?
3.Why were you advised not to get pregnant after missed abortion?
4. Why is HSG advised now or for what reason did you consult your doctor now?
5.Was it a medical or surgical abortion?
6. Was a scan done and whether there was PCOS?
After abortion, 1to 2 cycles will be irregular , then it usually normalise.. But in your case, period is irregular for more than 6 months, so you need a detailed evaluation.
HSG is hysterosalpingogram done to know tubal patency. It is done in patients with infertility. It is done by injecting XXXXXXX into the uterus, so there can be hypersensitivity to the XXXXXXX in some patients. Some experience mild cramping of lower abdomen after the procedure. Rarely there can be infection.
Please reply to my question, s that I can give a correct answer.. God day.
Detailed investigation is required.

Hi,
Thanks for writing..
So missed abortion was not the cause of irregular cycles. Abortion can cause irregularity only for 1 or 2 cycles. PCOS and defective endometrium might be the cause of irregular and scanty periods.
Trust your doctor and get an HSG done. It will help to see both the lining of uterus and status of tube. Get an endometrial biopsy and sent for histopathology to detect any infection or defect affecting the endometrial lining.
After this take 3 cycles of OCP's for the endometrium to build up and shed normally. After 3 cycles, you can try for pregnancy with close monitoring of endometrium and follicle to see for ovulation time so as to have a timed intercourse.. Post ovulatory period take progesterone for 10 days.
