Brief Answer:
Your age is not the time to assess the function.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

Your age is not the criterion for assessment of the ovarian function, it is the hormone status and the ovarian reserve and family history. You are right in saying that you are too young to face declined ovarian function.

After going through the history provided, I feel that you need a more elaborate investigation that includes a complete hormone profile involving levels of FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone, thyroid profile, prolactin, AMH and antral count.

The fact that you are able to receive periods with medication shows that your uterus is responsive and this is, indeed, a good sign. If you had a spontaneous pregnancy, this is a favorable sign too.

Any additional hormone defects should also be corrected, BMI maintained well within limits and a healthy life style should be initiated.

Genetic variations and a family history can predispose to primary ovarian failure and this fact has to be considered while planning management.

Hope I have clarified your query. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.

Thanks doctor for your inputs. To clarify all my previous menstrual cycle were regular and without any medications. Only recently i had two delayed periods (june and september) and that is why i took medicines in september. Before my baby there were three miscarriages and all were spontaneous conceptions(1.ectopic 2.missed abortion 3.spontaneous abort). After my delivery, every month i had my periods regularly. There was no amenorrohea. Once i took petogen irregular periods started. I am really worried that this is due to contraception effect. And now my doctor has prescribed meprate for next cycle onwards. And he is telling me you cannot produce ova after sometime so he is rushing me to better plan for next issue.Pls clarify.

Brief Answer:
May need treatment for hormone imbalance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

The fact that you had three abortions in a row makes me suspect that either genetic defects and/or hormone imbalances were to blame. Hope you had the cause of the abortions assessed.

Sometimes, hormonal contraception can lead to hormone imbalances which may need correction later. As I suggested earlier, please go ahead with a complete workup if you wish to know the exact cause and get further management.

Planning for your next baby should depend on the fertility status and your situation. Fertility status can be ascertained once the results are in. If you do not wish to probe any further for the time being, you may continue with Meprate for some time until the cycles are back on track.

Hope I have clarified your query. Please get back if you need any more information. I will be ready to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
