What Causes Irritation And Inflammation Of The Eyes?
Possible conjunctivitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,
What you are describing sounds like some form of conjunctivitis. This can be caused by an infection (usually viral, associated with an upper respiratory infection), irritants in the air or that you are exposed to, or an allergy.
Infection usually looks like yellowish discharge. You can put very warm wet washcloth on your eye 3 or more times/day to see if that will help. The heat will bring in white blood cells to clear up infection and also viruses and bacteria have set temperatures that they do best at and so it can help for this as well.
If it gets worse instead, go in to an urgent care clinic or your doctor where someone can look at your eye in person. Bacterial conjunctivitis is usually treated with antibiotic eye drops, but the very warm compresses should help with that too.
