What Causes Itchiness And Redness In Groin Area?
Question: Dear doctor,
I think i might developed balanitis. The private part is inchy and developed some redness. I did see urologist doctor and have some antifungel creams (2+ weeks). It is still not cured. I am wondering what really causes it? Where can i find the right doctor to have the right test near bay area.

I understand your concern and situation.
Did you had any unprotected intercourse in last few days? Do you have any discharge? Get complete haemogram and blood sugar levels checked. Also get tested for HSV by molecular tests. If you have any discharge get gram staining and culture sensitivity for bacterial and fungal infections. Maintain genital hygiene. It is possible that you might have secondary bacterial infection in that case you need to use triple action cream locally containing antibacterial, antifungal and cortisone. Apply for one more week and if no improvement then visit a dermatologist.

It has been few weeks. I do not think there is any discharge. I knew my glucose level is higher than normal at latest blood test and I am positive on HSV 1 long time ago (not HSV 2). The only thing on unprotected sex was not really an intercourse but I had a spa massage and there was hand touch of the area. Visited urologist and had urine test and it was fine. The symptom is feel burning when urinating, inchy head and skin. Any suggestion to particular place to have the test? I am at silicon valley area, united states.

Just to confirm, when you say massage visit is not relevant. Even there are hand touch, it would not transmit germs or virus. correct?
