What Causes Itching After Removing Scar Tissue From Breast?

Question: I had scar tissue removed from my left breast a week ago today. It is starting to itch. Is this because the stitches are dissolving? Do I need to contact my surgeon? Only red where I scratched and no foul smell or discharge
Brief Answer:
Itching is usually experienced during wound healing

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic

Dear Ms
Wounds during their healing process are associated with itching especially during first few weeks. If there are no associated signs of Surgical site infection like redness, discharge, pain, local swelling then there seems to be no cause for concern.
I would suggest you the following
1. Do not scratch the area
2. Local application of emolient like coconut or Olive oil will help relieve itching
3. Antihistamines will help if itching is severe
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Take Care
