What Causes Itching After Using Moisturiser For Dry Skin?
Question: Hi, My wife aged 30 has dry skin and use sometimes a moisturisers. She has itching all over the body including her private parts. Itching has increased after her delivery. Even my son who is 22 months, has the same itching. Please advice what to do.

I can understand your concern for the itching in your wife and son. It is really distressing sometimes to see any problem in our loved ones.
After reading your query with diligence and interpreting all the points I can make three important possibilities- Ichthyosis, atopic dermatitis or scabies. These are the three basic conditions which can affect both the mother and baby.
While ichthyosis is generalised dryness of skin and shows scaling all over body more pronounced during winters.
In atopic dermatitis there are eruptions typically on face and other folds of body with itching all day through.
In scabies there are eruptions below the face area and the itching is more pronounced at night time.
For helping you best do let me know that if any of the conditions matches with any of the conditions. You can go on Internet and see for pictures related to the condition and match with any of the conditions above.
Also do let me know whether your wife and kid have any eruptions. If yes then what are the sites affected. Is the itching more pronounced at night or all day through.
