What Causes Itching All Over Head And Hair Loss?
Question: Hi,
I am getting itching all over my head and also a patch of hair has lost.
Dont know when it happend, but regrowth is happening.
What could be the reason and also i am putting on lot of weight.

There many causes of itching in the head. The most commonly ones encountered are due to inflammatory diseases of the scalp like seborrhoeic dermatitis, contact dermatitis due to application of hair XXXXXXX or some other chemical and psoriasis; infections, drug induced, diseases like lichen planus and alopecia areata.
I would like to ask you few questions:
Whether itching is associated with any rash?
Is there history of itching or rash anywhere on the body?
History of dandruff?
History of application of hair XXXXXXX or any chemical on the scalp hair?
History of drug intake?
You have mentioned about patch of hair loss which is showing hair regrowth. It can be due to any of the diseases mentioned above showing signs of remission. You don't have to use any medicine since there is already hair growth happening.
As far as weight gain is concerned the most commonly encountered cause in females is hypothyroidism. I would recommend you to go for thyroid function
tests to rule hypothyroidism.
